PSALM 8: GOD CARES FOR YOU

dailypsalmfb8PSALM 8: GOD CARES FOR YOU
This is a favourite Psalm of many people, and I am so blessed to have this as my “Psalm of the Day”. I love it from verses 1 till the end, but would like to highlight what I found special in it.
Psalm 8:3 NLT
[3] When I look at the night sky and see the work of your fingers- the moon and the stars you set in place-
I love the description of the making of the universe, that it was only His fingers required to do it. Indicating how great God is and how effortless it was for Him to do this. I love How it also puts us in perspective of who God is in our lives.
Psalm 8:4 NLT
[4] what are mere mortals that you should think about them, human beings that you should care for them?
The new living Translation uses the word “Mortals”, which again contrasts us to our God who is immortal! Then, linking that onto the knowledge of knowing that our Creator thinks of us! That is such a immense idea to grasp, that the Creator of the universe so brilliantly described in verse 3, thinks about us. Wow!
I next want to skip down to verse 6…
Psalm 8:6 NLT
[6] You gave them charge of everything you made, putting all things under their authority-
This is so amazing. We are given a description of God and His power and strength. Then of His Love and thought he has towards us as mankind, followed by a description of our place, which gives rise to an authority that we carry due to our position in the authority realm. We again are reminded of the fact that the earth is under our dominion. God has given us the duty of looking after what is happening here on earth. This indicated David’s understanding of the mandate given to Adam and Eve in the beginning (Genesis 1: 26-28, Genesis 9:2). See how he uses the words that we are given charge over “…the works of Your Hands…” which shows us how vital our role is in the line of authority given by God to us.
I want to encourage you today, to realize that our authority here on earth has been restored back to us through what our Lord and Saviour did on the cross. Let’s take up our role as the children of God and do what He has instructed us to do. Don’t live life feeling powerless, but realize our role we have in the world today. To pray for family, friends, rain, our government, Leaders in church… It is endless!
Remember, Prayer moves God and God moves everything! Trust the Holy Spirit today to show you what needs you need to pray for.
