PSALM 20: TRUST-WHO?

PSALM 20 – TRUST IN THE NAME OF THE LORD

What a powerful benediction we find in verses 1-5 of this psalm! I can’t think of anything I would rather pray over my loved ones or myself.

(20:1) “May the LORD answer you in the day of trouble!  May the Name of the God of Jacob protect you!”

(20:4) “May He grant you your heart’s desire and fulfill all your plans!”

(20:5) “May we shout for joy over your salvation and in the name of our God set up our banners! May the LORD fulfill all your petitions!”

In the second half of this psalm we see that God is faithful. He saves His anointed ones and He answers from heaven with the saving might of His right hand (20:6). But It also challenges us to trust Him.

(20:7) “Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the Name of the LORD our God.”

In whom or in what do you and I really put our trust?  Money, education, ourselves? ……..?

LORD, today we declare with David “We trust in the Name of the LORD our God.”
