The Psalm starts by emphasizing that God is sovereign. That He created the world and everything in it. We are His and we all belong to Him. He is our Father and our Creator. This once again reminds me that everything we own, our gifts, our talents and earthly belongings all belong to God. We are merely stewards of what he has given us.

Verse three and four of the psalm are powerful and remind us that we serve a righteous God. Our actions, attitudes and motives need to be pure. God wants us to keep our “hearts pure” and our “hands clean” so that we may enter freely into the presence of a holy God. This reminds us that we should rid our lives of sin and anything in our lives that would separate us from God.  When you sin, repent and ask His forgiveness.

What an awesome picture this Psalm paints of an all- powerful God who created the world, the universe and everything in it. This is carried through and re-emphasized in the last verses of the psalm.  We eagerly await the coming of our God. He is the King of Glory and He will rule His kingdom forever. He is a righteous God and we His children will welcome him as our King and Saviour for there is none like Him.
