What a glorious picture the Psalmist paints of Jesus, the Messiah, a mighty warrior going out to battle against His enemies, to establish His throne and to claim His beautiful Bride, the Church.

He fights for truth, He fights for righteousness, He fights for you and me, and because of His great love for us we can be clothed in royal robes and enter his palace of praise.  We are part of his royal priesthood!  (See 1 Peter 2 vs 9-10)

How blessed we are to know this mighty King!  He is “enthralled by your beauty” and He loves you with an everlasting love…when we truly have this information sink into our heart of hearts we cannot help but honour Him, our Lord and King…

From verse 10 the writer changes his focus from Christ to the Bride.  He tells us to “Hear, O daughter, consider and incline your ear…”   What a clear picture of us drawing near, bowing low and really listening to what He has to say!

The Psalmist encourages us to forget everything, even “your people and your father’s house”.  Nothing is more important than the Lord Jesus Christ and our relationship with Him.  What are we holding onto more tightly than Christ?  There is nothing that can satisfy like Him, no job, no friend or marriage or relationship, no earthly possession. We need to let go and give it all to Him and He will meet the deep desires of our hearts!

One of my favourite parts of a wedding ceremony is when the bride walks down the aisle to meet her future husband. The excitement is tangible and the atmosphere sacred.  All the weeks and months of preparation culminating into this one perfect moment…How magnificent that day will be when we are finally led into the palace of the King, with joy and gladness, to meet the One who we were created to be with forever…
